IRON CHEF COMPETITION: Up to 6 local chefs will compete in this event modeled after the TV show of the same name. Competing chefs will be presented with identical “mystery baskets” containing various ingredients including two (2) core local seafood ingredients, and will be allotted 1 hour to create an appetizer and an entrée. These finished plates will be judged by a panel on creativity, composition, taste, and presentation. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winner, and 1st and 2nd runner up. Ron Andrews, President of the Low Country Chapter of the American Culinary Federation is assisting with competition logistics and organization. Ron has competed in numerous Iron Chef competitions, and will serve as one of the event judges. If you are interested in signing up for the “Iron Chef” competition, call Andrew Carmines at 681-2772 ext 137 or 422-6331.
SILENT AUCTION: The silent auction will be bigger and better this year. Last years winning bidders dined out on the island, had a chef prepare a 4 course meal for their friends, did a wine tour in Sonoma County, had a week long stay at Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa, among other things. This is truly a great way to find bargains and give to charity.
